Then it was inhabited by Luisa Baciocchi Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister and it became the Royal Palace of the King of Italy at the end of the XIX\u00b0 century when Florence was the Capital of the Italian Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it houses six very important museums which show rich collections of beautiful paintings, sculptures, jewelry, silverware, dresses and furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Palatina Gallery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gallery occupies the most important rooms of the piano nobile, or first floor; six rooms overlooking the square and those of the north wing at the rear of the building, previously the winter apartments of the Medici Grand Dukes. Today it houses a rich collection of paintings by Filippo Lippi, Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Modern Art Gallery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the biggest Modern art Gallery in Italy and it houses works of art from the neoclassical period to the end of the Second World War. The collection of the \u201cMacchiaioli\u201d painters (an important 19th century artistic Italian movement) is worth of a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Silverware Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Also known as \u201cThe treasures of the Medici\u201d, the museum hosts a large collection of priceless pieces of jewelry, silver, crystals, ivories and semi-precious stones that belonged to the Medici family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Fashion Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Florence has been the capital of Italian Fashion in the 60s and 70s and it\u2019s in the Pitti Palace, exactly in the \u201cwhite hall\u201d that the fashion shows took place. Today the Palace houses a museum dedicated to the history of costume and fashion from the 16th century to the present times, with the creations of the most important International and Italian designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Porcelain Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Located in the \u201cCasino del Cavaliere\u201d, high in the Boboli Gardens, the museum houses over 2000 pieces of porcelain items of German, French, Austrian and Italian manufacture including works made in the Richard Ginori factory in Sesto Fiorentino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Boboli Gardens<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The gardens behind the Pitti Palace were laid out for Leonora of Toledo, wife of Grand Duke Cosimo I de\u2019 Medici in the mid 16th century and enlarged by the Lorraine family afterwards. It\u2019s a magnificent set of evergreen trees and bushes together with statues, grottoes, temples and fountains.
